Modular Kitchen Installation Labour Costs in Hyderabad: What You're Actually Paying For
Installation is one line on almost every kitchen quotation and eight separate jobs on site. On a 10x10 Hyderabad kitchen it runs ₹25,300 to ₹43,700 depending on specification — and because most quotes bury it inside a per-unit or per-square-foot rate, two quotes for the same kitchen become impossible to compare.

Installation is a scope, not a fee
Ask three Hyderabad contractors what "installation" covers and you will get three different scopes at three different prices, all described with the same word. One means two fitters and a drill for four days. One means a supervised crew, a laser level, a stone fabricator on call, and a snag list closed before the final invoice. The number on the page does not tell you which you bought.
This matters more than it sounds. Cabinet boxes are commodities — a 600mm BWP carcass is a 600mm BWP carcass. What separates a kitchen that still closes silently in year eight from one that develops uneven shutter gaps by the first monsoon is almost entirely what happened during the fortnight the crew was in your flat. Installation is the only line on the quotation that buys skill rather than material, and it is the line most often quoted as a rounding error.
Test for any quote: if you cannot see installation as its own figure, you are not comparing prices — you are comparing presentation.
The eight jobs bundled inside one line
Every modular kitchen installation in Hyderabad, at every price point, involves the same eight tasks. The difference between a cheap installation and a good one is how many of them are done properly rather than how many are done at all.

What installation labour costs in Hyderabad

The share percentages are simple arithmetic on the two rows above them, and the shape of that arithmetic is the useful part: installation labour rises far more slowly than the value of what is being installed. Going from an essential to a premium specification nearly triples the cabinetry cost but adds only about ₹18,400 of labour, because a premium kitchen is not three times more work to fit — it is the same eight tasks performed on more expensive boxes, with more hardware to set and less tolerance for error.
Two consequences follow. First, on a premium kitchen the installation line is small enough that shaving it is pointless: you are risking a ₹5 lakh cabinet set to save a few thousand rupees of fitting. Second, on an entry-level kitchen installation is a meaningful fraction of the bill, which is exactly why budget quotes compress it hardest — and where a suspiciously cheap total is usually hiding.
Why bundled installation makes quotes uncomparable
The problem with a bundled installation charge is not that it is dishonest. It is that it is unfalsifiable. A quotation that prices a wardrobe as "100 sq.ft @ ₹1,200/sq.ft = ₹1,20,000" tells you nothing about the internal configuration, because drawers cost far more to build than empty shelves — a proper BOQ charges a base rate for the carcass and then lists each internal drawer as its own line, at a stated rate each. Installation behaves the same way. Folded into a square-foot rate, it becomes the elastic component that absorbs whatever the contractor needs it to absorb.
Three failure modes follow from that elasticity:
- The cheap quote wins on a scope you did not read. Two firms quote the same kitchen ₹40,000 apart. The gap is not material — it is that one has priced a supervised fortnight and the other has priced four days and a subcontracted crew. Nothing in either document says so.
- Site-condition work becomes a variation. When installation is undefined, everything the shell throws up is billable extra. Wall levelling and custom filler strips against out-of-plumb walls typically land at ₹10,000 to ₹30,000 on a 3BHK — gypsum plaster levelling alone runs ₹15,000 to ₹30,000, and custom laminate fillers and spacers ₹8,000 to ₹15,000. If your quote does not say who owns that, you do.
- The final 10% has no teeth. Retention only works if there is a written scope to withhold against. "Installation" is not a scope. "Shutter reveals uniform at 2–3mm across all elevations" is.

The costs that sit next to installation and are usually outside it
Several jobs happen during the installation fortnight, by the same crew, in the same flat — and are almost never inside the installation line. These are the items that turn a "final" price into an invoice ₹1 lakh higher.

How long installation actually takes
Time is the honest proxy for scope. Factory-made modular work takes 7 to 14 days of on-site installation after design sign-off. A kitchen cut and built in your flat by carpenters takes 60 to 90+ days of on-site cutting, dust and labour. That is the same finished object priced very differently in disruption.
End to end, including fabrication, a real project runs longer than the on-site window suggests. If a contractor quotes you a three-day installation on a full kitchen, they are not being efficient. They are telling you which of the eight tasks they intend to skip — and it will be levelling, sealing, and the alignment pass.
Making installation an enforceable line in your BOQ
Four things to insist on before you sign. None of them cost anything to ask for, and a contractor who resists all four has told you something useful.
- Installation as its own rupee figure. Not a percentage, not "included" — a number, on its own row, that you can hold two quotes against.
- Final measurement before production release. The BOQ should be locked only after the 3D design and the on-site measurement are both finalised, with a written note that the price changes thereafter only if you change the scope.
- Named acceptance criteria. Uniform 2–3mm shutter reveals, all drawers closing softly without noise and without sagging bottoms, PVC lining in the under-sink carcass, silicone along every countertop-to-wall edge, and the chimney duct verified working with the external cowl opening. These are checkable in ten minutes at handover.
- Payment tied to the installation milestone. Roughly 15 to 20% of the contract value at installation, released when the work is substantially complete on site, with a 5 to 10% retention held until the snag list is closed.

What the warranty actually covers
Almost every kitchen quotation in Hyderabad says "warranty included," and very few say who is giving it. A modular kitchen is four or five manufacturers' products assembled by a contractor, and the warranty is structured the same way. Read a headline warranty number in this category the same way. A ten-year figure quoted on its own is almost always the carcass tier alone, with installation sitting at one to two years beneath it. Ask any contractor which of those years are theirs and which are the brands'.
