The traditional Indian lighting setup is a single, extremely bright LED tube light in the center of the wall. This creates a flat, shadowless room that lacks depth and warmth.
Good interior lighting requires "layering." You need three types of light in a room:

- Task Light: Focused light for specific activities (e.g., a reading lamp, under-cabinet kitchen lights).

- Cool White (6,000K+): Very blue and stark. It strains the eyes and makes wooden furniture look dull. Avoid this in living spaces; it belongs in commercial garages.
- Natural White (4,000K): A clean, neutral white. Excellent for kitchens, bathrooms, and study tables where you need accurate color representation.
- Warm White (2,700K–3,000K): A soft, yellowish glow similar to a traditional incandescent bulb. This is the secret to a luxurious, cozy living room and bedroom.
Mistake 3: Poor Placement Over the Dining Table
A common mistake is placing ceiling downlights randomly, resulting in shadows over the dining table while the walkways are brightly lit.
The dining table should be the focal point of the dining room. Center a decorative pendant light or a chandelier directly over the table, hanging about 30–36 inches above the tabletop. This creates an intimate pool of light for dining.
