What is BWR (Boiling Water Resistant) Plywood?
BWR plywood is made using synthetic phenolic resins, which gives it a high degree of resistance to moisture and humidity. However, "resistant" is the key word. It can handle steam, high indoor humidity (like during the Hyderabad monsoons), and the occasional wipe-down with a damp cloth.
To pass the BWR test, the plywood must withstand being boiled in water for 8 hours without delaminating. It is an excellent material for interior zones that experience indirect moisture.
