# Modular Kitchen Warranty and After-Sales in Hyderabad: What's Actually Covered

Almost every modular kitchen quotation in Hyderabad says "warranty included." Very few say who is giving it. On a modular kitchen the material warranties belong to the board, laminate and hardware brands — the contractor passes them through. Only the workmanship is the contractor's own promise. Knowing which is which is the difference between a claim that gets honoured and a claim that gets bounced between two parties.

AlcorOne Solutions is an interior contracting firm working across Hyderabad — Gachibowli, Kondapur, Kokapet, and the Financial District — delivering turnkey residential fit-outs with itemised BOQs. This page sets out how warranty and after-sales actually work on a modular kitchen, and what to ask any contractor before you sign.

## The single most misunderstood thing about a kitchen warranty

A modular kitchen is not one product. It is four or five different manufacturers' products, assembled by a contractor. That structure is exactly how the warranty is structured too, and buyers routinely miss it.

- **The plywood carries the board manufacturer's warranty.** It is issued by the board brand, in the board brand's name, on the board brand's terms. Your contractor is not the warrantor.
- **The laminate carries the laminate manufacturer's warranty.** Same principle — a separate brand, a separate warranty document, separate terms.
- **The hardware and fixtures carry the fittings manufacturer's warranty.** Hinges, channels, drawer systems, lift-ups and baskets are warranted by [Hettich](https://www.hettich.com/en-in/), [Blum](https://www.blum.com/in/en/), [Häfele](https://www.hafeleindia.com/), Ebco or whichever brand is specified in your BOQ.
- **The workmanship is the contractor's own warranty.** This is the only part AlcorOne warrants in its own name — the cutting, joining, edge-banding, levelling, alignment and installation.

> Ask a contractor "what's your warranty?" and you will get a number. Ask "which of those years is yours and which is the board brand's?" and you will learn whether they understand their own offer.

This distinction matters most at the moment of failure. A shutter that has warped is a materials question. A shutter that is out of alignment is a workmanship question. A shutter whose laminate has lifted at the edge could be either, and the diagnosis determines who you claim from.

## What each warranty actually covers

Warranty by component — who warrants what

| Component | Warranted by | Term | Typically covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Plywood / carcass board** | Board manufacturer (pass-through) | [CARCASS WARRANTY PERIOD] | Manufacturing defect, delamination and borer attack per the board brand's own IS-grade warranty terms |
| **Shutters — laminate / finish** | Laminate or finish manufacturer (pass-through) | [SHUTTER FINISH WARRANTY PERIOD] | Factory defects in the laminate or applied finish itself |
| **Hardware and fittings** | Fittings manufacturer (pass-through) | [HARDWARE WARRANTY PERIOD] | Mechanism failure in hinges, channels, drawer systems, lift-ups per the fittings brand's terms |
| **Countertop** | [COUNTERTOP WARRANTOR — NEEDS OWNER: stone/quartz supplier, or AlcorOne?] | [COUNTERTOP WARRANTY PERIOD] | [COUNTERTOP COVERAGE — NEEDS OWNER. Note whether fabrication and joint work is treated as workmanship rather than material.] |
| **Appliances (hob, chimney, oven, sink)** | [APPLIANCE WARRANTOR — NEEDS OWNER: OEM direct, or does AlcorOne intermediate?] | [APPLIANCE WARRANTY PERIOD] | Handled under the appliance OEM's own warranty and service network |
| **Workmanship and installation** | **AlcorOne** | [WORKMANSHIP WARRANTY PERIOD] | Joinery, edge-banding, alignment, levelling, fixing and installation defects attributable to how the kitchen was built and fitted |

Two things to note about that table. First, five of the six rows are not AlcorOne's warranty at all — they are brand warranties handed to you. Second, the value of a pass-through warranty is entirely determined by the brand and grade specified in your BOQ. A generic "premium hardware" line gives you nothing to claim against; "Hettich InnoTech Atira 470mm" gives you a warrantor with a name.

[HANDOVER DOCUMENTATION PRACTICE — NEEDS OWNER. State exactly what warranty paperwork the client physically receives at handover: brand warranty cards, purchase invoices, batch or grade certificates, the finish register.]

## Who you claim from, and how

This is the question that decides whether a warranty is useful or ornamental. A warranty you have to chase across three companies yourself is worth far less than the same warranty administered on your behalf.

[CLAIM ROUTING — NEEDS OWNER. Describe the actual process: who the client calls first, who raises the manufacturer claim, and who is present when the brand's service engineer attends.]

### What to do when something fails

1. Log the issue with photographs, before anything is dismantled or repaired by a third party.
2. Identify the component — board, finish, hardware, countertop, appliance, or the joinery itself.
3. [REPORTING CHANNEL — NEEDS OWNER: the phone number, email or form a client should use to log a warranty issue, and whether there is a reference/ticket number.]
4. [RESPONSE COMMITMENT — NEEDS OWNER: the committed time to first response, and the committed time to site attendance, for a Hyderabad project.]

**Do not have a third party attempt a repair first.** On almost every manufacturer warranty, and on most workmanship warranties, unauthorised repair or modification is a standard exclusion. Photograph it, report it, and wait for the assessment.

## What voids the warranty

[VOIDING CONDITIONS — NEEDS OWNER. Confirm, amend or delete each item below against the actual warranty document. Anything not confirmed must be deleted, not left as a guess.]

- [VOID CONDITION 1 — e.g. water ingress / standing water from a plumbing leak: confirm whether covered, excluded, or time-limited]
- [VOID CONDITION 2 — e.g. repair, modification or re-fitting by anyone other than AlcorOne]
- [VOID CONDITION 3 — e.g. loading beyond the rated capacity of a drawer or shelf]
- [VOID CONDITION 4 — e.g. structural changes to the flat, or relocating cabinetry]
- [VOID CONDITION 5 — e.g. non-payment of a final invoice milestone]

## What is explicitly excluded

[EXCLUSIONS — NEEDS OWNER. These are the things never covered even where the warranty is fully in force. Confirm or delete each line below.]

- [EXCLUSION 1 — e.g. normal wear, surface scratches, and cosmetic ageing of finishes]
- [EXCLUSION 2 — e.g. colour variation and fading from sunlight exposure]
- [EXCLUSION 3 — e.g. damage from misuse, impact, or accident]
- [EXCLUSION 4 — e.g. consumables and items with a defined service life]
- [EXCLUSION 5 — e.g. civil, plumbing or electrical work outside AlcorOne's scope]
- [EXCLUSION 6 — e.g. force majeure, flooding, or pest infestation of the property]

## Transferability on sale

[TRANSFERABILITY — NEEDS OWNER. State separately: (a) whether the AlcorOne workmanship warranty transfers to a new owner on sale of the property, and under what process; (b) whether the pass-through manufacturer warranties transfer, which is generally governed by each brand's own terms rather than by AlcorOne.]

## After the warranty period ends

[POST-WARRANTY SERVICE — NEEDS OWNER. State whether AlcorOne attends service calls after the workmanship warranty period expires, whether those calls are chargeable, and on what basis — call-out fee, hourly, or quoted per job.]

[POST-WARRANTY RESPONSE TIME — NEEDS OWNER. State whether the response commitment for a paid service call differs from the in-warranty commitment.]

## What to ask before you sign

Regardless of who you build with, these questions separate a real warranty from a marketing line. None of them require you to know anything technical.

- **"Which parts of this warranty are yours, and which are the brands'?"** A contractor who cannot separate the two is unlikely to administer either.
- **"Is the brand and model written per line in the BOQ?"** A pass-through warranty is only as enforceable as the specification it attaches to. "Soft-close hardware" names no warrantor.
- **"Will I receive the manufacturer warranty cards and invoices at handover?"** Without them, a brand claim is difficult to establish years later.
- **"Who raises a manufacturer claim — you or me?"** Ask for the answer in writing.
- **"What voids it, in writing?"** A warranty with no stated exclusions is not a warranty, it is a sentence.
- **"What is the response time on a service call, and what happens after the period ends?"**

## Frequently asked *questions.*

### Who actually gives the warranty on a modular kitchen — the contractor or the brand?

Both, on different things. The plywood, the laminate and the hardware each carry their own manufacturer's warranty, issued by the board, laminate and fittings brands respectively — the contractor passes those through to you, they are not the contractor's own promise. What the contractor warrants in its own name is the workmanship: how the carcass was cut, joined, edge-banded, levelled and installed.

### If a laminate peels, who do I claim from?

It depends on why it peeled. Delamination caused by a defective board or adhesive from the factory is a manufacturer warranty claim. Delamination caused by poor pressing, wrong adhesive or an unsealed edge on site is a workmanship claim against the contractor. [CLAIM ROUTING — NEEDS OWNER: state here whether AlcorOne raises the manufacturer claim on the client's behalf or the client goes direct to the brand.]

### Does a modular kitchen warranty transfer if I sell the flat?

[TRANSFERABILITY — NEEDS OWNER. Manufacturer warranties and the workmanship warranty may answer this differently, and the answer must be stated separately for each.]

### How quickly does a service call get attended?

[SERVICE RESPONSE TIME — NEEDS OWNER. State the committed response window for a logged service call in Hyderabad, and whether it differs inside and outside the warranty period.]

A warranty is only worth what its terms say and what the warrantor will actually do. The most useful thing a contractor can give you is not a longer number — it is a clear, written separation of what the brands cover, what the contractor covers, and who picks up the phone when something fails.

[CLOSING COMMITMENT — NEEDS OWNER. One sentence stating what AlcorOne actually commits to on warranty documentation and after-sales. Do not write this until the terms above are confirmed.]
